Australia has a history producing and exporting a few great movies and rather too many not-so-great TV soap operas. Our success may be down to a certain curiosity factor that attracts overseas viewers to the accents and inventive slang we use and the quirky social behaviours we exhibit. Or perhaps it’s the scenery: all those wide-open spaces with very few people but lots and lots of kangaroos and the occasional wombat in them? 

That’s as maybe but the real-life drama unfolding around Australia’s much-vaunted National Broadband Network(NBN) bid, while not as photogenic, has many of the ingredients of a box-office smash. Read article…
