I received a press release today that caught my eye. It was issued by PR Newswire Asia and was announcing Singapore start-up Pechora Technologies’ HomeCamera service as winner at last week’s Broadband World Forum Europe in Paris.

It wasn’t just that this was a significant achievement for a Singapore startup, as the PR company put it, “not only is Pechora Technologies the only company to have won from South East Asia, it’s the only company of this size in the winners rostrum, with other winners including mega-corporations like Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, Fujitsu, and Huawei.”

That’s all great stuff, but it went on to describe HomeCamera as a global Software-and-a-Service solution that provides an easy and affordable way for Internet users worldwide to monitor their homes, families, and businesses.

Software-and-a-Service?  I’m presuming this is merely a typo, but if it’s not we may have a new type of cloud service to contend with.  Billing for it should be fun!
